Zinc Loaded Zirconium Phosphate

Zinc-loaded zirconium phosphate (Zn-doped ZrP or Zn-ZrP) is a functional material that uses zirconium phosphate (ZrP) as the carrier to load zinc ions (Zn²⁺) or zinc oxide (ZnO). Zinc ions and zinc oxide exhibit broad-spectrum antibacterial properties, low toxicity, and excellent stability, making zinc-loaded zirconium phosphate highly applicable across various fields.


 

Scope of Application:

Antimicrobial materials: medical supplies (antimicrobial dressings, surgical instrument coatings), plastics and textiles, building materials (antimicrobial coatings, ceramic glazes)

Water treatment: heavy metal adsorption, antibacterial water purification

1. Product features

1.1 Broad-spectrum antibacterial properties

-It has a strong inhibitory and killing effect on many pathogenic microorganisms such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans, and the antibacterial effect is lasting.

-Zinc ions are evenly distributed in the stable form in the structure of zirconium phosphate, which is not easy to produce drug resistance.

 

1.2 Safe and non-toxic

-Harmless to human body, non-irritating to skin, LD50 (half the lethal dose) is much higher than other inorganic antibacterial agents, suitable for food packaging, medical equipment and other fields.

 

1.3 Stable physical and chemical properties

-High temperature resistance (can withstand 500℃ without discoloration), UV resistance, suitable for high temperature processing environment (such as plastic injection molding, ceramic sintering, etc.).

-High chemical stability, acid and alkali resistant, suitable for different pH environment.

 

1.4 Good dispersibility and compatibility

-The powder has small particle size and large specific surface area. After surface treatment, it can be well compatible with resin, coating, fiber and other materials without affecting the original properties of the material.

-The compatibility with resin is better than that of zeolite and silica gel antibacterial agents.

 

1.5 Long-term release

-Zirconium phosphate carrier has excellent adsorption and release of zinc ions, and the antibacterial effect is lasting.

 

2. Recommended Additions

2.1 It is usually recommended to add 0.5%~3% (based on the total weight of the material)

2.2 High temperature processing: suitable for injection molding, extrusion and other high temperature processes (≤500℃), will not decompose and fail due to high temperature

2.3 Dispersion optimization: it is recommended to mix with the substrate evenly in advance, or use coupling agent (such as silane coupling agent) to improve dispersion

Avoid mixing with strong oxidants: may affect the stability of zinc ions
