The Electrocatalytic Reduction of Hydrogen Peroxide by the Novel Ag zirconium Phosphate-Neutral Red Complex Film Modified Electrode
The novel composite material consisting of nano-size silver and zirconium phosphate(ZP)was prepared and modified on the surface of electrodes after it adsorbed neutral red (NR). The neutral red retained in the film exhibits an enhanced redox reaction ability. The midpoint potential(Em)of adsorbed NR was 200mV more positive than that of NR in the solution of pH 7. The H2O2 biosensor was constructed with the film made from the Ag-ZP colloid with horseradish peroxide(HRP), bovine serum albumin and glutaraldehyde. This sensor has the significant effect of electro-catalytic effect on the reduction of H2O2 . Its cataiytic current was linear with the concentration of H2O2 in the range of 2. 5 X 10- 6 ~ 2 X 10- 3 mol/L. The detection limit of this sensor was 2 X 10- 7 mol/L H2O2 (S/N = 3).
The 95% steady-state response time was less than 15 s. More than 85% of the initial response was retained after the storage for 6 months at 4C. Particularly the sensor effectively eliminated the interference from most of coexistent substances such as ascorbic acid. The results of the recovery rate experiments were satisfactory.
