Effect of Layered Compounds' Dispersion on Combustion Properties of Filled Polymer
High-impact polystyrene (HIPS)-based composite materials were prepared by melting interaction, including HIPS/Fc-ZrP composites and HIPS/OZrP nanocomposites. Hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide(C16) modified zirconium phosphate (OZrP) was easier to form intercalated structures of nanocomposites with HIPS relative to the ferrocene-modified zirconium phosphate (Fc-ZrP).
The combustion properties and morphology of combustion products indicated that the improvement of the dispersion of layered compounds in polymer matrix is to enhance composites’ flame-retardant efficiency.
